States Visited:
North Carolina-Virginia-Maryland

On the morning of Monday, June 21, 2021, we went to Duck Donuts in Nags Head for breakfast. They make made-to-order donuts using many different toppings that can be chosen from. It was tasty and I highly recommend giving them a try if you get the chance.

After that we decided to head towards Maryland. Virginia Beach was an option, but with the tropical storm still rolling through the area, we felt it was better to head farther north.
The drive wasn’t too bad. We crossed the insanely long Chesapeake Bay Bridge. It has two tunnels in the middle of the bay.

From there we went up the eastern shore of Virginia to Berlin, Maryland. Andrea and I went there the previous year (2020) and we wanted to visit the small town again. There are a lot of little shops (mostly antiques) in the quaint downtown area. We ate lunch at Rayne’s Reef Soda Fountain and Grill, like we did the previous year.
After that it was a short drive to Ocean City, another place we stayed at the previous year. We checked in at the motel, Thunderbird, then changed into our swimming gear to go to the nearby beach.

We spent a few hours at the beach then went back to the room to shower off the salt and sand.

Dinner was at Higgins Crab House, which was a short walk from the motel. As before, three of us went with seafood while Andrea had ribs.
